Bruce Our next stop was Barrington, New Hampshire where our family came together to celebrate Mother’s 90th birthday. We had a gala party with all five of her children, grand children and great grand children in attendance. We were able to fulfill several of Mother’s wishes. She wanted to see our motor home, see B.J., and hear Bruce play his guitar.

September 27th, 2007 by Bruce We stopped to overnight at the Susquehanna RV park and discovered the adjacent town of Franklin was having a Civil War Commemorative festival so we stayed a few extra days and had a “grand olde time”.

September 27th, 2007 by Bruce Before leaving Pennsylvania, we stopped in Gettysburg. After spending time among the Civil War dead, we resolved to travel to Washington D.C. and participate in a march for peace.

September 27th, 2007 by Bruce On September 15th we took the subway to Lafayette Park (north of the White House) for the peace rally which began at noon. Not knowing what to expect, we packed assorted snacks, water, and large wet cloths in case of tear gas. We also had a plan should we become separated. What we found was nothing like the protests of the 60’s. There were people from all walks of life and representative of all age groups , high school and college students, parents holding infants and pushing baby carts , the elderly, and every age in between, a cross section of America. The march for peace was a peaceful one when over 100,000 people made their way up Pennsylvania Avenue to the capital and we were proud to be counted among them.
